The architectural imagery in the large (white paper background) sea monster, upper left, was drawn from 1940 photos of the Hotel Terminus in Lyons, France. The hotel was the Gestapo headquarters of the occupying Nazi military and civil authorities. Reference the 1987 documentary movie "Hotel Terminus- The Life and Times of Klaus Barbie,' directed by French - American documentary director Marcel Ophuls. (I do not recommend this movie for school children. The only Holocaust themed movie I recommend to teachers for school children is (the 1987 film) "Au Revoir Les Enfants" (Goodbye Children), directed by late French movie director Louis Malle. Malle was a pupil in a French school; his best friend was one of the Jewish children who the schoolhead posed as a Christian to try and help save that child's life. The Jewish children and the school head, Pere Jacques, were eventually reported to the Nazis and they were murdered. See UTW 63: Pere Jacques of France, Righteous Person.

The Third Reich's racial supremacy laws and religious hate included mass murder of Jewish and Romani and Sinti peoples throughout Europe, blacks, gays, Polish Catholics, the disabled of Germany and Austria (in the Aktion T-4 genocide which paved the way for the Holocaust), and among others, common criminals, captured Allied service personnel, Righteous People who tried to save Jewish and other victims of the Nazis and those who tried to assist Righteous People. Among the victims were Catholic and Protestant clergy. Concurrently, the Roman Catholic and Protestant churches of Germany and Austria were aligned with the Third Reich in the mass murders and genocide.
