The source photo of Liebl which I did the drawing from is from a photo of Liebl I received from my late mother's first cousin Genia Dayan during my first visit to meet Genia at her apartment in Holon, Israel, 1999. Genia Dayan was raised near Vilna; she and her mother survived the war, having fled east far enough east into the USSR that they were outside the area where the Nazi Einsatzgruppen troops had murdered over one million Jewish Russians. The photo she gave me was taken in the early 20th century; it's a group photo of Liebl and other men and women seated in a bleachers. One can tell they were a non-Orthodox group as the men and women are seated together; and the men's heads are not covered with caps or hats; the women aren't wearing wigs or scarves. I do not know where the photo was taken. Leibl is also depicted in one of the 3 drawings of The Shoah Trilogy, see the Other Holocaust Art - Shoah Trilogy gallery.
The imagery on viewers right was inspired by Judaica plates in 2 books: Jewish Art and Civilization, edited by Geoffrey Wigoder. Pub. by Chartwell Books, Switzerland, 1972. Per Judaica, of prior centuries, in the chapter Germany, text by Dr. Hermann Goldschmidt. I've been unable to find any biographical info on Dr. Goldschmidt online. Historian, author and editor Geoffrey Wigoder was born in Leeds, England, 1922; he died in Jerusalem, 1999.

The second book I used for imagery inspiration: The Jews of Poland and Lithuania Up to the Middle of the 17th Century in Paint, Stone and Parchment. Edited by Shmuel A. Arthur Cygielman and published pub. by Cygielman, in Jerusalem, 2004. The imagery: Plate photos of The Kalonymus Bible. The Kalonymus Bible is owned by the University Library, Wroclaw, Poland.

Of the bird wing seen viewer's left; right shoulder of the portrait of Liebl. I drew the wing from a color photo published in a hardcopy calendar, title: Splendid Wings 2002. It was published by the AOU (American Ornithology Union) and the Burke Museum, University of Washington, Seattle, and the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.
