Slain Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh and an Israeli Rocket-Propelled Gefilte, a get 'em-in-the-gut fanciful Israeli psychological-warfare-weapon

My framing is designed in what I call asymmetrical balance, a term I first heard as an art major in college, my sophomore year at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. I think of war and conflicts - with people maiming and killing each other - as asymmetrical human imbalance.

The slain journalist depicted, Shireen Abu Akleh, was Palestinian, born April 3, 1971. She was from a Palestinian Christian family. Her American citizenship was via members of her mother's family who lived in New Jersey.

On May 11, 2022, she died while reporting on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict-without-end.She was 51. She died while reporting on a refugee camp in Jenin, a West Bank town.

She had worked as a reporter for the Arabic-language Al Jazeera for 25 years.

While the Israelis claimed she could have been killed by either Israeli or  

Palestinian gunfire, investigations by the Associated Press, CNN, The New York Times and by The Washington Post concluded she was killed by gunfire from the Israeli military.

Among other agencies she had worked for was the UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East).

My drawing is a memorial to her life and work; and uses parody and satire to address Israel's heavy-handed response to the Palestinian quest, since 1948, (preceding my 1950 birth) for a right-of-return and citizenship, which would be the moral and ethical solution to the conflict.

My parody is a fanciful psychological warfare weapon: The Rocket Propelled Gefilte. So RPG has a double -entendre: Rocket Propelled Grenade (as the term is used by militaries) and in my drawing, a Rocket Propelled Gefilte.

While I myself enjoy gefilte fish, I know some Jewish and non-Jewish people who  think it dreadful; similar to the fishy Finnish dish called lutefisk! I myself didn't begin eating gefilte fish til I was in my 20's of age; when I was a kid I wouldn't eat it.
