OHRA 1973

The Repression of the revolution

Art: 1973
Media: Linocut
Size:  The plate (linoblock) image size is 12 x 12 inches.

Background:

A linocut print I made in 1973 when I was a freshman college student, majoring in art, Parkland College, Champaign, Il. (Parkland was Parkland Junior College when I started, later Parkland Community College).

I have 2 or 3 extant proofs. One is black and white; another was printed in silver, blue & black ink.

I don't recall where I derived the image from; perhaps a photo. I now find the title (I'm writing this background note, Oct. 2018) mildly unfortunate if intriguing.  Representative, perhaps, of either youthful idealism or a youthful age interpretative view of society.
