I don't recall the photo I did the drawing from so I am unable to provide background info as to where this was, nor who took the photograph. Were I to guess I'd guess this was somewhere in the middle east, e.g. Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Gaza and Israel.

Adult driven conflicts continue on and on and children are among the world's most prevalent victims of adult driven wars, alas.
