The title was inspired by a passage in Fateless, by late Hungarian Jewish Holocaust survivor Imre Kertesz. Kertez won a Nobel Prize for Literature; the book was made into a movie (released 2005)l which, at the time, was very popular among younger age Hungarian people.

The imagery was inspired by a black & white photo in the book The Auschwitz Album: The Story of a Transport (Yad Vashem, Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, 2002, 2004). The photo, on page 249, is captioned: "An old Jewish woman takes care of the little children on the way to the gas chambers."
