Tobacco Ads: Taking Blood-and-Death Money Is Morally Repugnant

Even if the Times needed to receive the money made from tobacco-company ads to stay in business, it should be morally repugnant to the publisher, the staff and the readers for The Times to receive this blood and death money which is derived from the agony and deaths of our families, our friends and our co-workers.

It is already bad enough that the tobacco industry has targeted black and Hispanic Americans, along with the Third World, for their final markets. As their profits decline at home, many people free themselves of the addiction, but often too late. The Times contributes to this injustice.
